The Duplicate Viewer tool can be used for quick reference when reviewing Duplicate or Near-Duplicate documents within the active Case Database.
Open the Duplicate Viewer from the Menu of the Main User Interface by selecting Tools > Duplicate Viewer.
There are two separate tabs, one for referencing Duplicates, and another for referencing Near-Duplicates:
DuplicatesThis tab is used for quick reference on Duplicate case documents. Highlighting a document within the Document List of the Case Directory pane will cause its DocID to be displayed here, along with any other relevant information for that document: •If the highlighted document is considered a Duplicate, then all associated duplicates of that document will also be listed here by DocID. The _DupID is shown for "Parent" level duplicates (always listed first), and the DupStatus is shown for all other "Global" or "Custodian" level duplicates. Left-clicking on the documents listed here will cause them to be located and highlighted within the Case Directory pane. •If the highlighted document is not considered a duplicate, then the message "is not a duplicate" will be displayed instead. Additionally, you can see the deduplication status of the Case Database by clicking on the appropriate link at the bottom of this tab. |
Near-DuplicatesThis tab is used for quick reference on Near-Duplicate case documents (including Email Threads, which are considered Near-Duplicates within this tool). Highlighting a document within the Document List of the Case Directory pane will cause its DocID to be displayed here, along with any relevant information for that document: •If the highlighted document is considered a Near-Duplicate, then all associated Cluster or Family near-duplicates of that document will also be listed here by DocID. The ND_Similarity percentage is shown for all but the Master Document, which is always listed first. Left-clicking on the documents listed here will cause them to be located and highlighted within the Case Directory pane. •If the highlighted document is not considered a near-duplicate, then the message "No near-duplicates found for document" is displayed instead. Additionally, you can right-click on any non-master Near-Duplicate document listed here, and select Compare to Master from the pop-out menu to open the Near-Duplicate Viewer (explained below). Selecting two non-master documents (by holding down the CTRL key on your keyboard while left-clicking on them) enables the Compare Documents option from the pop-out menu instead. |
Near-Duplicate ViewerThis tool shows the differences between two Near-Duplicate documents selected from the Near-Duplicates tab of the Duplicate Viewer. Differences are shown in bold red font, with the original text (from either the Master Document or the first document selected) being struck out, and the changed text on the right. The name of both files being compared, along with their related DocID, can be found at the bottom-left of the tool. For longer documents, you can use the <Prev/Next> buttons to navigate between the various changes in the order that they appear, or the <<First/Last>> buttons to jump to the first or last change. If both documents are a 100% match, then no red text will be displayed, and the buttons at the top will be unavailable. You can have multiple Near-Duplicate Viewer windows open at a time. |
