The LAW Answer Center requires Internet access to view its contents. If you click the Online Answer Center menu selection on the Help menu in LAW while you are working offline, you will get the Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage message.
When you are working online or offline, you can click the Help Topics menu selection on the Help menu in LAW to view the compiled version of the LAW Answer Center (LAW50.chm file) that is installed with CloudNine™ LAW. The compiled version of the LAW Answer Center allows you to view most of the LAW Answer Center contents offline. When LAW is installed, the LAW50.chm file is added to the LAW installation directory, and is not updated after installation.
Sometimes updates are made to the LAW Answer Center content in between LAW releases. When updates are made, a new LAW50.chm file is generated and can be downloaded and saved to your local computer. You can manually update the LAW50.chm file in the installation directory by overwriting the installed copy with the updated version downloaded from the LAW Answer Center.
If you want to download the latest version of the LAW50.chm file, but do not want to overwrite the LAW50.chm file in the installation directory, you can just download the file to the desired directory, such as your desktop, and double-click the LAW50.chm file to open the file.
CloudNine™ LAW Answer Center Compiled Help
Help topics may not appear when you try to open help topics from a copy of the local help file (i.e., LAW50.chm). This situation results from a security patch released by Microsoft (896358) that prevents CHM files from being processed in various situations. For more information about the security patch, see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896358. A registry entry can be added to disable this security patch and allow you to view help topics. If you trust the computers on your LAN or intranet, and you trust the people using them, you can lower the restrictions on the Local Intranet zone to allow CHM files to be displayed.
To implement the registry change: 1.Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK. 2.Locate and then click the following subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\HTMLHelp\1.x\ItssRestrictions. If this registry subkey does not exist, you can create it. 3.Right-click the ItssRestrictions subkey, point to New, and then click DWORD Value. 4.Type MaxAllowedZone, and then press Enter. 5.Right-click the MaxAllowedZone value, and then click Modify. 6.In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK. 7.Quit the Registry Editor, version 5.8.October-22-2010
In newer Operating Systems it may be as simple and selecting the Unlock button in .chm file's properties see Unblock-file-Windows-10. |
