LAW 7.0.206 - January 29, 2019

Enhancements

Introducing Turbo Import

Turbo Import is a new multi-agent ingestion engine designed to handle more import jobs, bigger data, and with a reduced infrastructure versus ED Loader.

Combines the strongest features of ED Loader and CloudNine™ Explore into a new CloudNine LAW ingestion engine

64-bit, multi-processing engine with linear scalability

Multi-agent mailstore processing

Multi-agent archive processing

Forensic image formats (E01, L01) and embedded mailstores (PSTs attached to emails)

Outlook not needed for ingestion

Auto-recovery from import failures

Improved error handling

Reprocess multiple errors from multiple imports together with one click

Queue multiple import jobs from a single machine

Deduplication, NIST and Filetype filtering, along with language identification and email conversion controls

Introducing Configuration Utility

The Configuration Utility is a centralized application designed to simplify configuration of your LAW environment.

A single utility greatly reduces the effort needed to install and configure LAW

Removes need to manually update backend files during configuration

Ensure all configuration properties are valid during the install process

Connect LAW local machines to central environment database with minimal effort

Error logging and reporting for environment/local machine configuration process

Known Issues

Installation

Installing LAW in a location other than the default system drive, results in an error during the LAW Configuration Utility being configured.

LAW Configuration Utility

Local System Account

When running the LAW Configuration Utility, we encourage users to consider using User Account when configuring the LAW Service. If you are using the Local System Account for the LAW Service, then you should use LAW_User (SQL Login) for Management and FTM database logins. Running the Local System Account in tandem with Windows Accounts for Management and FTM database logins may prevent LAW from correctly processing documents.

Mapped Drives:

Mapped Drives in the LAW Configuration Utility are not recognized.  It is recommended to use UNC paths.  Refer to this MSDN Services and Redirected Drives for more details.

LAW Service:

When certain characters % ^ & < > are used in the password during the LAW Service configuration, the LAW Service is not installed.

Caselist

LAW 7.0 requires that the caselist be hosted in the SQL-hosted LAW Management database. If you have declined to migrate your Access caselist.mdb to SQL in previous releases, you will need to manually run the CaseListMigration.exe tool in your LAW50 folder after completing the LAW install. If the migration tool is not run prior to running LAW 7.0 for the first time, a blank caselist will be created and referenced in processing.

LAW TSI

LAW TSI is not compatible with LAW 7.0 based on certain requirements included in this release. Users who are dependent on LAW TSI for day-to-day workflows may want to consider using an earlier LAW version to ensure they have access to the TSI utility.

LAW TSI is also not compatible with Windows 10.

Turbo Import

Turbo Import “Data Population” processes are limited to 1 agent for this release. This performance will be improved in future releases.

When applying passwords and reprocessing encryption errors, then encrypted duplicates that have already been populated in LAW are not  excluded.

When reprocessing documents, in some cases the documents are imported into LAW in reverse order.

Unencrypted RAR files in format 5.0+ are showing as encrypted during analysis and not extracting content.

In rare instances, embedded images are not being extracted with the correct file type extension through Turbo Import.

Electronic Discovery

Unencrypted RAR files in format 5.0+ are showing as encrypted and not extracting content.

E-Printing

For Power Point Notes files, the Date/Time Stamp is printed in the output when 'Do not print date/time stamps' is selected.

Installation

CloudNine™ LAW and CloudNine™ Explore installer may generate an error when attempting to install "Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Update 3 Redistributable Package" if “Microsoft Visual C++ 2017 Redistributable" is already installed on the machine. This error can be safely ignored if the newer redistributable is installed.

TIFF/PDF

When tiffing oversized MSGs with oversized images, the oversized image is not resized to fit to page.

Expervision OCR

When OCRing to create a Searchable PDF, using the Create PDF Thumbnail option causes OCR to timeout. Disabling the Create PDF Thumbnail resolves this.  Abbyy doesn't have this issue.

Software Licensing:

When multiple product keys are activated on the same license server with overlapping features, the overlapping features will display the expiration date of the product key that expires first.

For example, a perpetual license contains 1 Tiff, 1 Admin, 1 ED Loader, and 1 OCR and is activated on the license server with an expiration date of NEVER.  A burst license for 2 Tiff licenses, 1 Edit, and 1 OCR licenses that Expires on 6/18/2018 is activated on the same license server.  The license manager will display the 3 Tff and 2 OCR licenses combined with an expiration date of 6/18/2018.

Deactivating the burst license or the perpetual license from the license server to activate on a different server, will remove all overlapping licenses.   For example, deactivating the burst license will remove all Tiff and OCR licenses in addition to the 1 Edit license, leaving the 1 Admin and 1 ED Loader on the license server.  The current workaround is to deactivate the remaining license (perpetual EID) and activate it again.
