Accessing Concordance Desktop

Concordance Desktop does not require you to log onto a server until you actually attempt to open a database, or if you are an administrator, attempt to open the Admin Console. Once an attempt is made to either open a database or the Admin Console, Concordance Desktop begins the process of authenticating the user. It is at this time that a user's log on information is required.

To access Concordance Desktop, do one of the following:

Click on the Concordance Desktop icon on your desktop

Click on the Windows Start button and select Concordance Desktop from the menu.

Double-click on a shortcut (.fyi) file that was sent to you
(If you have Concordance version 9 or lower still installed on your computer, do not use this method, as it will attempt to open the database in the older version.)

Double-click on a database that resides on your computer
(If you have Concordance version 9 or lower still installed on your computer, do not use this method, as it will attempt to open the database in the older version.)

To open an database, see "Opening a database."

To open the Admin Console, see "Accessing the administration console."

To Change Your Password

Contact the administrator of the Concordance Desktop server on which you need your password reset, and ask them to reset your password.

The next time you open a database on that server, you enter your a new password in the Password field. That will be your password going forward for that server.

Passwords cannot be reset from the Admin Console login window. So if you are an administrator, you will need to attempt to open a database, in order to change your password, after your account has been reset.
